Creative and Practical Arts

Creative Arts K-6 addresses the art forms of Visual Arts, Music, Drama and Dance.

In Visual Arts students develop knowledge, skills and understanding in making artworks. They investigate different subject matter such as people, objects and places; use a variety of expressive forms such as painting, drawing and sculpture; and learn to consider the audience of their artwork.

In Music students develop knowledge, skills and understanding in performing music. By singing, playing and moving, they learn music of different styles and from different times and cultures. They also learn to organise sound into musical compositions using concepts such as pitch, duration and dynamics.

In Drama students develop knowledge, skills and understanding in making drama. Students work collaboratively, taking on roles and creating imagined situations. Their performances will be shaped by a variety of drama forms such as mime, puppetry and storytelling. Each year students perform at the State Drama Festival.

In Dance, students develop knowledge, skills and understanding of dance. They will compose and perform their own dances using the elememts and contexts of dance from different times and cultures.
