Library Resource CentreOur Library Resource Centre is a well resourced centre with a motivating learning environment. We have over 25,000 resources for our school community to use. Students can visit the Library during morning class time to borrow a book for DEAR reading (Drop Everything And Read). The Library is open at Lunchtimes for activities such as Computer Research, Chess, Drawing and Reading. Each class visits the Library for one scheduled session per week. During this time the students borrow books to take home, conduct research activities associated with the COGs unit the Stage is studying, and appreciate literature. The Teacher Librarian and Classroom Teacher work together to create a stimulating co-operative teaching and learning program. Teachers also bring their class to the Library to use the Interactive Whiteboard and mini-computer lab during flexible times. Our dedicated group of Library Monitors from Year 6 lead the students in the Library at lunchtimes while operating the computer system and supervising students. Their role also entails borrowing, returning and shelving resources. A small group pf dedicated parents volunteer their time to help in the Library with shelving, covering, displays and Book Club. Students have participated this year in the NSW Premier's Reading Challenge and the MS Readathon. Our aim is to establish a love of reading and develop technolically skilled life long learners. Technology Each classroom has at least 3 networked computers. We have 2 computer labs. The computer room has 30 networked computers with a data projector. The Library Resource Centre has a lab of 14 networked computers with an Interactive Whiteboard and Data Projector. The students also have use of other AV Equipment such as a DVD recorder, Web cam, and Digital cameras. Students like to publish their work on our School Intranet, where each student has their own web page. Our teachers use technology as part of their everyday curriculum programs to ensure Quality Teaching and Learning. Our school will be installing a "connected classroom" in the near future to allow video conferencing and interactive class lessons with other schools in the state.
